How to Delete Store Categories

You can delete categories from your store at any time in the management portal. The process is slightly different depending on whether or not the category contains subcategories.

Deleting a Category (No Subcategories)

  1. Navigate to the store page inside the management portal.

  2. Click on the Categories tile.

  3. Select the name of the category you wish to delete.

  4. At the top of the page, open the Tasks dropdown menu.

  5. Click Delete category.

  6. A popup will ask you to confirm. If you’re sure, click the blue Delete button.

Deleting a Category with Subcategories

If your store uses subcategories, you must delete them before you can delete the parent category.

  1. Go to the store page and click on the Categories tile.

  2. Select the parent category you wish to delete.

  3. One by one, click on the name of each subcategory.

  4. Open the Tasks dropdown menu on the subcategory page and select Delete category.

  5. Repeat until all subcategories are deleted.

  6. Return to the parent category page.

  7. From the Tasks dropdown menu, select Delete category and confirm deletion.

If the category still has subcategories, the Delete category option will not appear in the Tasks menu.
Deleting a category does not delete the products inside it. Products remain in your product list within the management portal.
If your store uses categories, any products not assigned to at least one category will not appear on the storefront. They’ll remain hidden until assigned to a category.
